Walking tours and cameltreks through the
Egyptian desert
Travelling on foot or on the back of a camel
through the vast desert you can still experience the silence and
timelessness of nature. Discover the Western
Sahara, situated between thellll oasis of Bahariya and
the Libyan border, maybe the most beautiful part of Egypt.
Eating by the light of a campfire,
traditional Bedouin music and dance at night, sleeping under a
star-spangled sky: exceptional experiences that will stay in your
memory for a long time.
But first you visit Cairo, a metropolis. There are number
of things you can see and do in Cairo
and of course you can go out on your own if you like. We can warmly
recommend a visit to the National
Museum and the
pyramids. In Cairo
you will be staying for two nights in a simple and pleasant hotel.
From Cairo
you will travel by van to Bahariya. This oasis is the starting point
of your five-day safari.
In the desert you will sleep under a starry
sky or in a tent, depending on your preference. After a great diner,
prepared on a fire by the Bedouins, you can enjoy traditional Bedouin
music and dance. During the walks lunch and refreshments will be
provided for. On one day you can take a bath in the hot springs.
During the morning you’ll walk for
approximately three hours. Lunchtime not only offers a great lunch,
but also the opportunity to rest a little. In the afternoon you will
walk for another two or three hours. Your luggage will of course be
transported.
If you prefer riding a camel during (part of
the) trip we can arrange to have a camel at your disposal. If you
would like that, please let us know when you make your reservation.

, Arrival Saturday early morning, tansfer to hotel near Gizeh
Pyramids!

Visit Cairo: e.g. piramides, museum,
market Khan el Khalili etc.

|
Transfer to Bahariya. Lunch at the guide
Mohamed Abdellatif’s home.
Departure to desert. First night in the desert we sleep in
the Cristal
Mountains.

Monday
|
Walk from the Crystal Desert
to mountain area with white limestone El Agabad, "The
Difficult" because the area is that difficult to reach.
|

Tuesday
|
From Agabad we walk to "The Magic
Spring". We sleep nearby. Here it is possible to take a
shower.
|
|
Wednesday
|
From here we walk to de White Desert. A
great variety in colors – from dark red to pink and purple - can be
seen during sunset.

Thursday
|
We walk to "The Western Desert",
one of the most beautiful places in the desert.
|
|
Friday
|
Walking through the “Western Desert”.
|

Saturday
|
In the morning the last short walk,
afterwards we return to the Bahariya oasis. Lunch at Mohamed’s.
Afterwards a visit to one of the hot springs in the area to take a
nice hot bath. At 20.00 PM
